NMVTIS stands for
"National Motor
Vehicle Title

and was created as a
part of the Federal
Anti-Car Theft Act of
1992. It is an

provides consumers with
valuable information
about a vehicle's
condition and history.
NMVTIS is a
database administered by
the American Association
of Motor Vehicle
Administrators and is
overseen by the United

purchasing a vehicle,
NMVTIS allows
consumers to find
information on the
vehicle's title, most
recent odometer reading,
brand history, and, in
some cases, historical
theft data. These
reports are available at
www.USCarHistory.com
and are integrated
within the ComSoft
MonyMaker Inventory
program.
CARFAX provides detailed
vehicle history reports
from billions of records
that may include flood
damage history, odometer
readings, lemon history,
state emissions
inspection results,
service records, lien
activity, and title
information including
salvaged or junked
titles.
